  • Open burning shall be permitted in certain circumstances in connection with construction, development purposes and storm damage. Fee’s associated with burn permits are listed below.

    Commercial Permits:

    (30) day $200

    (60) day $350

    Residential Permits:

    (30) day with no fee.

    Permit Holder Rules:

    1. All fire shall be extinguished before dark, including all embers.

    2. There will be no burning if there is a burn ban in effect.

    3. Someone must be present at all times when the fire is burning, and a copy of the permit must be onsite.

    4. There will be no burning of construction waste or trash.

  • Sherwood Fire Department has adopted Chapter 3, section 319 of the 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code that lists the requirements that must be met for operating a mobile food preparation vehicle. If you are operating a mobile food preparation vehicle you will be required to have a fire inspection completed by the Sherwood Fire Marshal’s Office in order to obtain a business license from the City of Sherwood. The inspection fee will be $25 dollars and will be by appointment only. All mobile food preparation vehicle will be required to be taken to the Sherwood Fire Marshal’s Office for inspection.

    Mobile Food Preparation Vehicle Checklist:

    • 5lb ABC fire extinguisher with a certification tag from a licensed fire extinguisher company. (Tagged within 12 months and mounted in a visible location)

    • For vehicles capable of frying food, a 1.5-gallon Class “K” fire extinguisher with a certification tag from a licensed fire extinguisher company. (Tagged within 12 months and mounted in a visible location)

    • Appliances shall be secured in place and connected to fuel supply piping with an appliance connector.

    • The maximum aggregate capacity of LP-Gas containers shall not exceed 200 lbs.

    • LP-Gas containers installed on the vehicle shall be securely mounted and restrained to prevent movement.

    • A listed LP-Gas alarm shall be installed within the vehicle in the vicinity of the LP-Gas components.

    • Extension cords shall be plugged directly into an approved receptacle, relocatable power tap or current tap and, except for approved multiplug extension cords, shall serve only one portable appliance.

    • Extension cords shall be maintained in good condition without splices, deterioration or damage.

    • If the vehicle is equipped with a hood suppression system, the system is visibly clean, has been inspected and has current semi-annual certification tag in place.

  • The Sherwood Fire Department conducts inspections on all businesses annually. Our goal is to reduce the loss of life and property by inspecting buildings and structures to ensure compliance with applicable fire and building code requirements.

    Sherwood Fire Department will always conduct inspections at reasonable times and coordinate a schedule that meets the needs of both the building or property owner and our department employees.

    In order to assist you for preparing for your fire code inspection, we have put together a list of the most common fire code violations.

  • The Sherwood Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for plan reviews for new development outside the city limits of Sherwood.

    All plan reviews inside the City limits of Sherwood will need to be addressed by the City of Sherwood’s Permits & Planning office.

  • Fire investigations are conducted by the Fire Marshal’s Office and on-shift investigators. Investigators conduct investigations into both criminal and non-criminal fire cause and conditions. The Fire Marshal’s Office works closely with the Sherwood Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
